The doors will not open until August 2016 but already there is plenty of buzz surrounding the announcement of Essentials Café coming to the Shops at Foxbank.
Shawn Wood, pastor of Freedom Church located in Foxbank on Cypress Gardens Road, and his business partner Marshall West, a local real estate agent are starting Essentials Café to bring a much-needed amenity to the Foxbank community.
“We recognized that there weren’t a lot of great coffee shops or meeting places nearby,” said Shawn. “I like a good place to grab a cup of coffee and meet with friends. I wanted to make that happen for my community.” Essentials will include a meeting area, great free Wi-Fi and be a central location for local business people.
Construction for Essentials Café is underway and expected to open in August. The café will offer espresso, drip and frozen coffee — all from local coffee roaster, King Bean. In fact, there will be a lot of local details in Essentials Café.
“We wanted to use as many local resources as possible,” explained Shawn. “Coffee from local roasters, pastries from local bakeries and even artwork from local artists.”
Both West and Wood are graduates of Berkeley High School and Shawn and his family have lived in Foxbank Plantation for five years. In addition to being close to work, he enjoys the neighborhood’s central location to Charleston, Moncks Corner and Goose Creek — as well as one other important aspect of the community.
“My wife and I actually love living in a planned development,” said Shawn. “They do such a wonderful job and we have great neighbors. It’s great place to live…and drink coffee!”
Stay tuned for an official grand opening date for Essentials Café. And in the meantime, if you see Shawn around Foxbank, be sure to say hi!
