Top April Events Around Charleston

Firefly DistilleryThey say April showers will bring May flowers, but as far as we can tell, this April is filled with family-friendly events around Charleston, not rain showers! So get outside this season and check out some of these awesome events you can enjoy with your family and friends.

Crawfish for Cancer’s 3rd Annual Charleston Boil – April 7

Stop by the Firefly Distillery’s new site on the water for all of the crawfish you can handle for a great cause. Tickets are all-inclusive with unlimited crawfish, beer and wine and live music throughout the day from some of the Lowcountry’s favorite bands. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation.

Lowcountry Kids Expo and Summer Camp Fair – April 8

This free event is a celebration of the best in products, services and entertainment for children and family. Hosted at the Charleston Gaillard Center, this Expo features local businesses and resources that focus on education, health and wellness, summer camps, safety, child care and other family-related topics. Kids can even enjoy free bounce houses, face painting, a photo booth, character meet and getters and so much more. 

Movies Under the Stars: Coco – April 13

Who doesn’t love a free movie? This month, check out a free showing of this year’s family favorite movie, Coco! Grab your blankets, friends and family and head over to the Regional Recreation Complex on April 13. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie will begin at dusk. There will be food trucks on site for you to grab snacks and refreshments for the movie.

High Water Festival – April 21-22*

This music, culture and food festival is a huge hit with locals and visitors alike. Hosted at the Riverfront Park in North Charleston, it’s a two-day event that features an impressive line-up of artists such as Band of Horses and St. Paul and the Broken Bones. You’ll also get to enjoy the best in Southern cuisine and local chefs as well as a Lowcountry boil and an exclusive oyster-education experience.

*Note: tickets are sold out for general admission and VIP weekend pass for the High Water Festival, but there are still tickets available for Pass the Peas, Low Tide Social and Oyster Education Class.
