We hope everyone had the opportunity to spend the 4th of July weekend celebrating with their family and friends in Foxbank Plantation in Moncks Corner!
For those interested in continuing the celebrations throughout the rest of summer, we have got a few fun, festive party ideas that will help keep the good times rolling in the Lowcountry.
Summer Harvest Party
Since the end of summer is near and gardens across the Lowcountry are overflowing with ripe summer fruits and veggies, now is the time to enjoy all of the delectable flavors of the season with a Summer Harvest Party.
From the food to the décor, use your favorite garden bounty for inspiration. If figs and fresh mint tickle your fancy, combine the two to make a simple centerpiece, or sprinkle some figs on a fresh salad and create a signature drink using muddled mint — a refreshing mint julep will really hit the spot.
Movie Night Under the Stars
The warm summer nights we’ve been experiencing are simply begging us to throw a summer bash outside. And a movie night is the perfect way to bring everyone together for a fun, relaxing evening.
Transform your backyard into an entertainment center by renting an inflatable screen or project the movie on a white drop cloth or large white wall. Line up folding chairs for a more formal viewing experience, or provide your guests with pillows and blankets, encouraging them to sprawl out wherever they choose. To really recreate the movie-going experience, add a concession stand with popcorn, candy and other popular movie theater treats.
Southern Tea Party
Who doesn’t love a good, old fashioned southern tea party? It’s sophisticated, charming and the perfect way to show off your hosting skills. After all, nobody throws a better party than a true southerner.
If you don’t have your own china set, consider using mismatched china to create an eclectic, colorful dining experience. For your décor, add magnolias, hydrangeas or other southern blooms to show off the natural beauty of the Lowcountry. Nothing says “summer in the South” quite like fresh, seasonal desserts like key lime or pecan pie, banana pudding or lemon meringue, so be sure to include these southern favorites on your party menu.
And, as every good host/hostess knows, the ultimate test for your party is the party favors at the end. Vintage handkerchiefs or jars of local jam or honey will lend the perfect exclamation point at the end of a spectacular evening.
