The Family Behind Southern Cuties Boutique

Tripp and Heather Boltin both had full-time jobs. He worked for the Federal Fish and Wildlife Service and she was a teacher. While they were content in their jobs, they both dreamed of something more.

Heather had previously worked in retail and loved monogramming clothing for her children in her spare time. Opening a boutique just seemed like a natural progression.

“When the retail space became available in the Shops at Foxbank, Tripp was ready to put a business plan together to open a boutique in Foxbank, since this area had very few places to shop,” explained Heather. “We worked every night to create a business plan that would work best for our location and community.”

The result was Southern Cuties Boutique, a one-of-a-kind boutique that offered something for everyone.

“We have clothing, shoes and accessories that are not available in many of your local box stores and malls,” said Heather. “Many of our customers are in here weekly to pick up a gift for every occasion. We also provide free gift wrap, so your gift will be ready before you walk out the door!”

Don’t let the name fool you. Southern Cuties is not just a children’s boutique. The products they offer are great for all ages and all occasions. They also offer in-house embroidery to personalize items such as boots, handbags and everything in between. Compared to other boutiques in the Tri-county area, Southern Cuties prices are hard to beat.

“Once you shop with us, you usually return week after week for items for yourself or gifts for others,” explained Heather.

Current residents of Foxbank, Heather and Tripp have the perfect set-up. They first discovered Foxbank when they were looking for a home that would accommodate their growing family. With three daughters and twins on the way, Heather and Tripp needed a family-friendly neighborhood that was spacious and safe.

“After visiting numerous homes in the Tri-county area, Foxbank was definitely the best decision,” said Heather. “And now with Southern Cuties within the community, and family close by, it really is a dream come true.”

What does the future hold for this couple and their thriving business?

“We are currently trying to establish our own product line,” explained Heather. “My husband is in the middle of designing shirts with southern flare for men.”

And after that?

“In the next five to 10 years we would like to expand in other locations,” said Heather. “Right now we are expanding our current store to the adjoining space, which will double the store size — we have grown very quickly in just a year and a half and need the extra space.”

When Heather and Tripp aren’t busy growing their family-owned business, they can be found shopping, going out to eat and, of course, spending quality time with their three daughters and twin boys.
