One of the best things about living in Moncks Corner is that you can reap the benefits of living in a small town while being within driving distance to the city life of Charleston and beautiful beaches like Isle of Palms or Sullivan’s Island. Here are a few suggestions for your next day trip:
Charleston
Many of our Foxbank Plantation residents regularly commute to Charleston, but it’s much more fun to visit when you don’t have to work! We’d get there early to start the day with a yummy brunch at one of Charleston’s many amazing restaurants and leave plenty of time to explore the shops on King Street, the iconic Rainbow Row and the South Carolina Aquarium with the kiddos. It’s always a great idea to embark on a walking tour to learn more about Charleston’s rich history–it seems like every time you go, you learn something new!
Summerville
This charming small town is known as “the birthplace of sweet tea” and is straight out of a movie set. CHS Today recently put together an awesome guide to visiting Summerville. Plan a visit to check out the downtown on a sleepy Saturday or come for one of their upcoming festivals, like the Sweet Tea Festival on September 21 or the Summerville Italian Feast on October 20.
Beach Day
There are so many beautiful beaches within driving distance from Moncks Corner, including Kiawah Island, Sullivans Island, Folly Beach and Isle of Palms. Each beach has its own unique character and style: Kiawah Island is a great place to stay all weekend and bring a bike, especially if you love to golf (or spa!); Sullivans is a beautiful local beach that has wonderful restaurants, like the iconic Poe’s Tavern; Folly Beach is super laid back with a ton of funky shops and restaurants; and Isle of Palms is a great place for a family beach day (plus, dogs are allowed off-leash before 9 a.m.!).
