Spring has almost officially sprung in the Lowcountry, which means it’s time for popular seasonal events to start sprouting out all over town. And that’s exactly what’s happened. In addition to the annual St. Patrick’s Day and Easter celebrations that can be found around every Monck’s Corner, there are a few other events that we are particularly interested in checking out this month.

Give Me Shelter Color 5K – March 3

First up is the annual fun run, Give Me Shelter Color 5K, which benefits the Callen-Lacey Center for Children. Hosted by Body on the Move, this kid-friendly event is open to all ages. Just by registering, you are helping give home, healing and hope to child victims of abuse, neglect and parental abandonment in Berkeley County.

Movies Under the Stars – March 9

Join others from around the community for a free showing of the movie Wonder. Hosted at the new Regional Recreation Complex, the annual Moncks Corner Movies Under the Stars is the perfect way to celebrate the start of a new season. Gates open at 6 p.m. and the movie begins at dusk. Food trucks will be on-site for concessions.

Volvo Car Open – March 31 – April 8

Watch the top women’s tennis players go head-to-head at the annual Volvo Car Open at the Volvo Car Stadium on Daniel Island. Known as the largest women’s only tennis tournament in the world, this event offers a variety of activities and viewing opportunities for tennis fans of all ages.

Moncks Corner Farmers Market – April 5

In just a few short weeks, the Moncks Corner Farmers Market will be opening. And while we know that this isn’t technically a ‘March event,’ it’s definitely one worth noting. So go ahead and mark your calendars and be sure to stop by to explore vendors of all kinds, including produce, protein, dairy, jewelry, crafters and sweets. You’ll find everything you need and then some at the Farmers Market at the Moncks Corner Regional Recreation Complex.
