Can you believe that summer is almost over in the Lowcountry? As much fun as we have had lounging by the Foxbank Plantation pool and soaking in the sun, we are also excited to get back into the routine that comes along with a new school year (maybe at Foxbank Elementary!).
While you may already be preparing for the start of school, you should also take some time to check out these upcoming events happening around town in August:
Gullah/Geechee Nation International Music and Movement Festival (Aug. 3-5)
Join in on the festivities as our community celebrates the Gullah/Geechee nation. This three-day celebration will leave you feeling a strong appreciation and connection with this native Lowcountry culture and will allow you to experience a variety of music, dance, drama, film, books and crafts, such as the iconic art of sweetgrass basket weaving.
Foxbank Elementary Community Outreach (Aug. 8)
If you haven’t heard, our very own Foxbank Elementary School is officially opening its doors to students for the 2018-2019 school year! Come out and meet your Foxbank Elementary faculty and staff to learn everything you need to know in preparation for the first day of school. In partnership with the Moncks Corner Police Department, this event will be a great way to welcome Foxbank Elementary to our community.
Summerville CommUNITY Back-to-School Bash (Aug. 11)
What better way to celebrate the beginning of a new school year than with a back-to-school bash? Join nonprofits such as Build-A-Brother Foundation, Distinguished Gentleman’s Club, We-R-1, Summerville/North Area Jewish Community Center and the Community Resource Center for a fun-filled event complete with free school supplies, free food, helpful resources and entertainment for all ages!
