Now that Independence Day has come and gone, it’s time to celebrate that other, not as popular but oh so delicious July holiday: National Ice Cream Day!
National Ice Cream Day falls on Sunday, July 16 this year and there are plenty of ways you can celebrate this savory holiday. Here’s what we suggest:
- Old Reliable
The easiest way to celebrate is by stocking up on your favorite flavors from your local grocery store and chowing down on a bowl (or two) in the comfort of your home. Scope out which places will be handing out free ice cream to save a few bucks. The best places to enjoy ice cream? Either curled up on the couch watching your favorite movie or relaxing on your porch, watching the fireflies come to life.
- Ice Cream Party
Instead of celebrating solo, consider throwing a holiday party! People will love to get together to celebrate their favorite cold dessert. Make a sundae bar so people can mix in their favorite toppings or turn it into an ice cream-infused cocktail hour with adult milkshakes and floats.
- Trivia Night
Similar to the ice cream party, this soiree encourages your guests to actually work for their dessert. Did you know that, in 1984, President Ronald Reagan was the one who established National Ice Cream Day as the third Sunday in July? True story. And there’s a lot more history where that came from, which makes an ice cream trivia night a great way to test your knowledge with your family and friends.
